—————— ARTICLE START ——————

If I could show you how to become a Web design, development
or marketing expert without spending a dime, would you want
to learn?

Imagine you’re a master at making money online, that you’re
passionate, and excited during almost every hour you spend
working. Visualize people coming to YOU for answers to
their most important Web-related questions. Envision emails
and phone calls flooding in every day with eager,
prospective customers. Read on to learn the secret to
achieving all of this.

First, discernment and discretion are vital. There are many
programs online, many e-books, many self-proclaimed Web
gurus and so much information today that it’s overwhelming
and could send you to the poor-house faster than the speed
of digital communication.

Where should I go to learn Web marketing? How should I
spend my time? Who should teach me? What websites offer the
best information? How do I make money using the Internet?
What are the most important things I should learn? Should I
learn Java or PHP? What are the fundamentals? How do I
write effective copy online? How long will it take me
before I can start my own business? The answer to all these
questions can is . . .

Before I explain, let me tell you a brief story of my
inchoate professional life. I barely knew what a computer
was while in college. It was only after living on both
coasts playing live music did I conclude that a career in
computers may make me a few more dollars than a career in
music.

It was then I decided I wanted to become a Web expert.

I had first considered attending a high-priced computer
school that a programmer friend had recommended. But I had
no money, and the school required all its students to
attend full-time. I needed to eat and provide a roof over
my head, and for that I needed to work full-time, so this
expensive computer school was out of the question for me.

Although my options were limited, but I diligently looked
in the Want Ads till I found a job that I could possibly do
that was related to computers. The job title was “Internet
Exploration Specialist”.

I know that sounds slightly strange, but if you had met my
chair-throwing, screaming and eccentric boss-to-be, it
would make a little more sense.

I got the job and outlasted the most optimistic office pool
prediction for how long I would remain working for the
perpetually livid CEO. Looking back, it was probably one
the best things I could have ever done (minus the maniacal
boss, that is).

I learned how to surf the Web. I became an expert Internet
peruser, a digital explorer, a website connoisseur, and a
professional information superhighway surveyor.

At around the same time I learned one of the secrets to
becoming an expert at something. You have to put the time
in. People who remain working in careers that they hate
don’t put in the extra time to develop a career in
something they love. Pure and simple.

So while I had down time at work, I read books and found
websites that taught me how to do things Web-related tasks.
More importantly, I spent time after work and on the
weekends reading, practicing and developing my Web skills.

Back when I began developing my Web career, the Internet
wasn’t as big as it is today. There weren’t as many options
for learning Web-related skills. Since I had no money, I
simply searched for free online tutorials, primers and
how-to’s. They became my staple for learning.

Since I had seriously developed my Web surfing skills, I
inevitably found many highly educational websites. And
there weren’t as many scams back then either, there weren’t
as many “gurus”. Web marketing or e-marketing hadn’t even
become terms yet, so I had a lot of success getting
reliable information.

Today it’s different. This is both good news and bad news.
I’ll start with the bad news.

You can’t throw a rock into the Internet ocean now and NOT
hit a get-rich-quick plan, a Web marketing curriculum, or
an e-marketing “expert”. You’ve got StomperNet, Portal
Feeder, Pipeline Profits, The Rich Jerk, Strategic Profits
and Traffic Secrets to name only a few.

There’s too much to choose from and they all come for a
steep price. Now many of these programs may teach you a
lot, but it will cost you.

I’m here to say that you don’t need to spend any money.
You’re reading this for free, aren’t you?

But here’s the good news.

Because of the way Google ranks websites now, because the
very nature of the Internet as man’s most prolific and
complete resource on everything, and because of human
nature being curious and information-driven, the Web has
massive amounts of extremely useful, high-quality, free
information. People are falling all over each other trying
to produce and publish high-quality Web content all at no
cost to you.

Again, Google is one reason. One main way Google ranks a
website is by how many authoritative sites link to that
website. The best way to get new links pointing to your
site is by creating useful content that can be accessed by
anyone. If the content is fresh, original and high-quality,
people will link to it.

And here’s more good news. Of all the subjects there are in
the world, and therefore all of the subjects discussed
online, the Web is the most popular.

Of course this has to be true. Think about it. Who’s doing
all the posting? Webmasters. And what do webmasters know
best? The Web. So you’re going to find a huge amount of
tutorials, primers, articles, forum posts, blogs and
websites that offer tons of useful information on how to
become good at all kinds of Web-related things, and all at
no charge.

Here are a few tips for effectively searching online.

* Open up two or three browser windows at a time. One
should have Google, the next Yahoo or MSN Search and the
third should be your working browser. Use all three
browsers when searching by toggling to each of them.
Toggling is achieved by pressing ALT+TAB. By using
different search engines, you’ll get a wide range of
different results.

* Use quotes around your phrases to find exact phrases.
This will give you results that have the words in your
phrase only in that order.

* Use long tail search phrases when using a search engine.
Long tail means many words. The more specific your search
phrase is, the more relevant results you’ll get. For
example, searching in Google for “free tutorials for
beginner web marketers and expert career advice” instead of
“web marketing tutorials” will yield more relevant results
for you.

* Use the minus sign to weed out superfluous results. For
example, if you’re looking for event tickets and you type
in “Boston tickets”, you’ll end up with lots of airline
related results. Instead use “Boston event tickets”
-airline -flights.

* Get creative in contructing your search phrases. Combine
multiple concepts.

* Don’t just use search engines. Join forums like
WebmasterWorld, DigitalPoint, SitePoint, HighRankings and
SEOChat, visit blogs, and read how-to’s and tutorials found
in article directories. Regularly visit authority webmaster
sites like DevGuru, Developer.com, TheNetGazette.net,
HTMLprimer.com and WebKnowHow.net.

* Go to and participate in Web 2.0 sites such as PlugIM,
FreeIQ, Digg, Technorati, Simpy, Del.iciou.us, MarkTD,
BibSonomy and Squidoo.

* Become good friends with your Favorites or Bookmarks
feature in your browser. Set it up so you develop a
well-organized, useful list of websites, Internet
destinations and Web pages and posts that you can
constantly refer back to.

Becoming an expert Web marketer or Web programmer can be
done by putting aside time every day to learn your craft
and by becoming good at finding the right information
online that doesn’t cost anything.

The more you search for useful information, the better
you’ll become at it, and it will soon take you less and
less time to find what you want.

Therefore, the answer to all the questions above is: you’ll
need patience, discipline, time management skills, and
Internet searching skills. The searching skills come to you
by simply practicing, by putting the time in online.

Everything you need to know to become a Web expert without
spending a dime is literally a few clicks away online and
most of it is free. Get to work.

Writing Technical Content for Consumers: The Mom Test
As Mother’s Day approaches, it reminds me of one of the
best tests that was ever concocted for patient literature.
Patient literature is a generic term for all sorts of
content written expressly for healthcare consumers,
typically patients themselves and possibly their families.

You see patient literature everywhere nowadays. Go into any
doctor’s waiting room and you’ll see lots of cardboard
brochure stands with pamphlets aimed at talking directly to
the healthcare consumer.

There’s even more patient content on the Internet. Most
medical companies offer a lot of patient-oriented materials
on their main websites and some have spin-off sites devoted
exclusively to the consumer.

What does this have to do with Mother’s Day? Writing
patient literature is somewhat more of an art form than
writing technical specifications. To know if you’ve done it
right, you need to subject your material to “the mom test.”

Sometimes I do this literally. I bring the material home,
in as close to final form as possible, and hand it to my
mother. I ask her to look it over and give me her opinion.
I’m mainly interested in whether or not she could follow
what was being presented.

Some writers use the “mom test” in a more imaginary way and
try to read the material from the perspective of their own
parents.

Most healthcare consumers are senior citizens, so the mom
test works well for most patient literature. If you’re
writing for patients who are more likely to be young adults
or even teens, you need to test in an appropriate age group.

The difficulty writing patient literature is striking the
right balance between simplifying things and keeping it
accurate. Sometimes, in an effort to avoid using big words
or difficult concepts, errors or misleading statements get
injected.

There is also the danger that no matter how carefully you
present the content, it is too technical or confusing for
the reader. This is possible when crafting any highly
complicated content for a lay audience.

Another problem with patient literature is that it has to
be fair and balanced, yet, ideally, it should be reassuring
and positive. You can’t mislead your reader, but you have
to be very careful not to frighten him or her, either!

What’s funny about the mom test is that often patient
literature prepared at my agency gets good marks in those
departments but we learn other things. It seems that by
deliberately working hard to be clear, honest, accurate,
yet positive, we turn out copy that meets those standards.
But sometimes we drop the ball in ways we never imagined.

In one brochure, my mother informed us, the type was hard
to read. The designer had done something very attractive
and artistic and had placed gray type on a white
background. It’s very trendy among artists right now to do
that. The trouble is, my mom said it was hard to read.
(The brochure was for heart disease which is typically a
health concern of older people so our target readers would
be around the age of my mother.)

We switched the type to black. Not quite as snazzy but more
practical. We then passed the mom test.

In another brochure, we used a lot of big medical terms but
defined them in a mini-glossary in the back. We thought
this was terribly clever. My mother said she didn’t want to
keep flipping back and forth in the brochure. We
re-designed the piece to make the glossary a “flap” that
also worked as a bookmark. Again, she gave us thumbs up.

For another project, another person’s mom was given some
material and although she found the material fine, she
suggested that we do an audio cassette or CD with the same
content for people who have trouble reading. Another great
idea! It was honestly something that we had considered but
hearing the need again from a potential consumer got the
project green-lighted.

Another mom test was conducted on a website. Again, this
site had a list of commonly used terms that related to the
disease in question. The idea was that patients could use
this list to learn more about their condition. My mother
said, “Those definitions and explanations are fine, I
guess, but why can’t you just explain it in plain English?”

That gave us a great idea. We left the terms exactly as is
but we added a new choice to the website. You could now
view the medical term and get its definition or you could
press, “Tell Me In Plain English.” Then we rewrote the
definition. Because of the “plain English” button you had
to press to access this definition, we had a bit more
freedom in being folksy with these definitions.

So now that it’s almost Mother’s Day, it’s time to thank a
very responsive and valuable (and unpaid) focus group for
many writers: our mothers.

Omega Watches Make History with Co-Axial Escapement
In 1999, Omega made a huge impact on the watch industry by
introducing the very first co-axial escapement. The
introduction has been considered one of the most
significant advancements within the watch industry since
the invention of the lever escapement. After English
watchmaker George Daniels invented the co-axial escapement,
the first mass-produced watch incorporating the new feature
was distributed to the public in 1999.

The way the co-axial escapement functions, it uses
virtually no lubrication. Because of this, it eliminates
one of the shortcomings that are present with the
traditional lever escapement. By utilizing radial friction
instead of sliding friction at the impulse surfaces, the
co-axial escapement helps reduce friction. As friction is
reduced because of the co-axial escapement, theoretically
the watch should last much longer. In addition, you will
find that your watch maintains its accuracy and precision
over time.

Another benefit to the co-axial escapement is the smaller
lift angle and the increased arc of free vibration of the
balance wheel. Because of this, there is a greater part of
the total arc that is conducted free of interfering contact
with the pallet lever.

The original escapement has proved to be reliable and
durable over the past two centuries. It was designed by a
British maker Thomas Mudge and was eventually refined by
the Swiss. Although it has served its purpose, the one
downside to the conventional escapement is that the design
relies so heavily on sliding friction. The sliding
friction serves as the escape wheel impulse surfaces sweep
over the pallets to power the balance.

By having sliding friction in your watch, lubrication is
needed. Lubrication continues to be a weak point to the
lever escapement, and because of this George Daniels wanted
to eliminate sliding friction. By utilizing radial
friction, Daniels was able to eliminate sliding friction
and thus eliminate lubrication.

Many Omega timepieces have the co-axial escapement in them
now since being introduced to it in 1999. At the Basel
Watch and Jewelry Fair in 1999, Omega introduced a new
watch for the Deville line that was a chronometer-rated
limited edition watch. This was the first watch that
included the co-axial escapement that was being sold for
under $150,000.

Today, there are many watches that use the co-axial
escapement. Omega has ventured out and their
innovativeness was well felt with this invention. It was a
remarkable achievement by Omega and has contributed to an
already successful history within Omega timepieces.

Rag To Riches story from 1954 … holds a secret about doing Joint Ventures
In the summer of 1954, four hundred wealthy businessmen
were invited to hear about a joint venture proposal.
Hands were shaken, coffee was served and for the next few
hours, behind closed doors, P & L statements projected the
future of how this venture would play out.

History would show that this was one of the sweetest deals
ever offered in business and those that embraced this idea
would make thousands of times their original investment …
all that joined the venture would make millions.

This was not a naive group of wet-behind-the ears dreamers,
awestruck by the thought of sudden riches, or easily swayed
by emotion.

No, this was a hard-nosed bunch, accustomed to dealing with
bankers and politicians.

Here were the captains of their industry, being offered the
deal of a lifetime. Their reaction is what is fascinating.
How many jumped at the deal?

How many of those original 400 had the foresight to run
with this deal … and beat out the competition?

As it turns out, exactly three.

The creator of this idea - ever the businessman -
understood; “After all,” he says, “all we were offering
them was a name, a set of plans, and a dream!”

A name, a set of plans, and a dream… The deal was a
simple one: $500 down and about $5 per day was all they had
to pay for the rights to use a name and a set of plans …
to make the dream of a lifetime come true.

Who was this businessman and what was he selling?

You may not recognize his name but you certainly know his
company. Today, it is one of the most recognized brand
names in the world.

Side Note: Within three years this company went public with
a $3.9 million stock offering and suddenly, everyone wanted
in on the deal.

Those that didn’t jump on board wound up standing in a long
line, waiting their turn.

Who was this guy?

————————————————-

Opportunity: “…Opportunity comes often, it knocks as
often as you have an ear trained to hear it, an eye
trained to see it, a hand trained to grasp it, and a head
trained to use it.”

This quote is from “Twenty Tips For Success” by Mr. Kemmons
Wilson, founder Holiday Inn, America’s Innkeeper

————————————————-

In 1951, Kemmons Wilson was on vacation with his family and
became disgusted by the motels of the era that charged $2
extra for children, “We have five kid’s, so our $6 room
became a $16 room,” he said. One year later, he opened his
first Holiday Inn where children could stay for free and
families were assured of consistently clean, safe, rooms.
Very soon, Holiday Inn setup the first nationwide motel
computer reservations network and then, everyone wanted in
on the deal.

“From that point on it wasn’t a question of trying to sell
franchises - it was a question of allocating them.”

The important point [call it the secret] from this meeting?

Really, there are two important lessons. First, when the
risk is small - don’t hesitate. In this case; $500 for the
use of the Holiday Inn name plus five cents per room per
day - about $5 a day on a 100 room motel - was a pittance
compared to what investors made on this deal.

But the biggest reason for Holiday Inns’ success was a risk
taker founder, backed by hard working no nonsense
franchisees that were willing to invest millions in the
first nationwide computer reservations network.

A centralized computer system was something that the rest
of the lodging industry didn’t have at the time. At that
time the competition was a bunch of small independently
owned roadside motels too small and scared to make the
major investment needed to win … so they lost and the
people that joined Mr. Wilson became very big winners.

So, the biggest [secret] from this meeting? When you are
first to the market with a new technology backed by people
that won’t “give up”, then don’t be afraid to take a risk
and go for it!

Do You Need an MBA to Run a Successful Business, or Vision?
Is a strong vision for your business more important than an
MBA? Should you go to school or go to the school of hard
knocks?

When the cost for an MBA ranges from $15,000 to $50,000,
you need to consider whether the traditional MBA program
will meet your needs as a business owner.

First, please keep in mind that most business school
programs are not designed to teach you how to start a
business, but how to contribute to running and managing an
existing large company. Starting a business from scratch
requires a completely different skill set.

So, why even bother going to business school?

Business school can provide you with some very strong
theoretical skills, including the ability to read and
understand financial statements, as well as understanding
market trends and economic theory. Most importantly, an
MBA program can help you develop relationships with mentors
and others that can help you build your business down the
road.

It can also give you an inflated image of your
entrepreneurial abilities.

The last thing I want to do is discourage anyone form
pursuing an education, as a college education can be a
valuable tool. If you are pursuing a career, an MBA has
been proven to help you command a higher salary.

Unfortunately, I have seen absolutely no correlation
between educational level and success when it comes to
running a business. In fact, in the last ten years I have
spent helping business owners grow their businesses, I have
never found a college education to make a difference in
business success.

The deciding factor in the success or failure of a business
owner has absolutely nothing to do with education level.

It is the strength of the business vision.

Successful business owners have a plan. They know what
they want for themselves and their business, and they do
whatever it takes to make it happen. They have a strong
vision in front of them at all times-a picture in their
minds of where there business will be next year, five years
from now, and beyond.

If they don’t know how to read a financial statement or run
a marketing campaign, they find someone who can. They don’t
let education or a lack of education stand in the way of
growing their business.

They just do whatever it takes.

Creating a successful business is rarely a straight path.
Two steps forward and one step back is normal. Business
owners with vision are the ones that don’t get caught in
those backwards steps. In fact, they tend to brush them
off quickly, refocus, and take a bigger step forward.
Successful business owners are not afraid to admit they
don’t know everything.

This is not a trait of the typical MBA graduate.

Successful business owners are always looking to make
themselves and their business better, faster and stronger.

If you want a career in business, by all means pursue an
MBA. If you have a personal goal to get your Masters
Degree, an MBA is a great choice. Just don’t be surprised
to find that you have a lot more to learn when it comes to
being an entrepreneur.

Find a mentor, or a business group that can help you along
the way. The best teachers are the ones that have already
created a successful business. Regardless of how you
pursue your education, just remember to never stop learning.

Success is a journey, not a goal. Your business vision is
your guidebook.

Use it.

Finding a Work At Home Business can be a difficult thing. If
you are like me you have spent countless hours surfing the
internet looking at every possible home based opportunity
listed. The problem is that there are so many it can become not
only cumbersome but also confusing. They all have grandiose
claims that you will be making all the money you will ever need
in the first week, month, or year. Whatever! It can be so
overwhelming that the decision to join one of these programs is
often put on hold waiting for that perfect program. On hold
means “time”. And we all know what time is, right? I looked for
a program to join for almost a full year, putting off the
decision to join over and over again. At first it was because
of the excessive start-up costs. Then it was because I couldn’t
decide on whether to have a program that supported a product or
a service or an affiliate program. Then there were the claims
of instant BIG MONEY! I learned a long time ago to watch out
for the work online “too good to be true” programs. Then there
was the training. How was I supposed to be successful at a work
from home program if all I did was sign up and was whooshed into
the online frenzy, left alone to figure it out myself? There
were just so many unanswerable questions.

Then one day in my search I was introduced to a website, that
offered affiliate marketing as it’s main premise. At first
glance I thought it might be like the many others I had see.
However after reading the introductory page I knew immediately
that I had found something special and perhaps the program I
have been looking for. The introductory page took me about 20
minutes to red but the content was incredible. It was well
written. I contained no “super” promises. It did a great job of
introducing what is known as affiliate marketing. I was
extremely affordable to start. I was a work at home or home
based business. All in all IT JUST MADE SENSE. The name of the
program in PluginProfit.

Then there was the BIG question: What about training? I was
amazed at the training. It’s a complete 30 day full training.
And I mean complete. It showed me everything I needed to know
and walked me step by step through the training process. By the
time I got through the training not only did I have the
confidence that I had joined the right program, but I also felt
like an internet guru.

Here’s the best part. Once I completed the training all I had
to do is weekly maintenance type work to make sure the system I
had put in place ran smoothly. This system literally does all
the work for me. If I ever run into a snag or question I can’t
answer myself, I can just send that question to the support
team or participate in the very active forum group and my
questions are answered. Oh yeah, I need to mention the best
part, I’m making money. And, the amount I’m making increases
all the time. I

So there you have it. How I chose my work at home business. You
can also be a part of this and other internet based business
opportunities. Just see the information below and you’ll have
access to the same information that has changed the lives of
myself and my family. Oh, and one last thing, this is a great
business model for stay at home moms too. My wife loves it.

I wish you all the success in the world.

Owning your very own business is a big step for many
individuals to take in life. Yet more and more individuals are
doing just that and stepping up to the challenge which comes
with being a business owner. There are many different
businesses which one can undertake and many of these businesses
turn into successful ventures. Prior to starting up a business,
it is wise to take a look at a few things to determine if you
have what it takes to start your own business.

Financial Background

As with many things in life, starting a new business costs a
good deal of money, both in the beginning and throughout the
business venture. One should consider their financial
background to determine if this is something which they can
afford. Funding a new business can be done via savings, loans
or taking on financial partners. By looking at the financial
situation right in the beginning, the hopeful future business
owner can see whether or not this is the right time to start a
new business.

Schedule and Time Availability

Time is another factor which must be considered in relation to
starting one’s own business. Starting and pursuing your
business will take quite a bit of time so it is crucial that
one is sure they have the time to devote to their new project.
Some businesses will require more time and effort than others
however this is something which all individuals should take
into account as the more time one puts into a project, the more
success it is likely to see.

Sheer Dedication

Starting and cultivating a new business takes more than time
and money. It is something which takes sheer dedication on the
part of the business owner. An individual who decides to start
their own business must have this desire to pursue their
occupation to the utmost of their capabilities and follow
through on things from start to finish. If you have the sheer
dedication, you will be more likely to turn your business into
something wonderful.

Ability to Ask for Help

Lastly, one should also possess the ability to ask others for
help with getting their business off the ground and running.
This can be enlisting the aid of family members, friends or
even paid workers. Depending on the size of the venture, it is
often difficult for one individual to start a new business
without asking others to pitch in and help from time to time.
Whether it is asking for tax help or having family members help
out with caring for the kids, there is often something which
others can do to help make the business even that much more
successful.

first impression. We also have been told how important it
is to create a positive rapport.

Would you like to know the best way to talk to a prospect
you have never met? How to make a good first impression and
create instant rapport.

You probably know that you should talk your prospects
language. You should match his rate of speaking.

You are probably sophisticated enough to know that people
are different and that a single method of talking to them
is not the best approach. Some people like to get right to
the point, others feel insulted if you don’t warm them up
and talk about family first. Some only want the big
picture, others need details. You have to speak slowly to
some and quickly to others.

What if you could find out before you ever meet him which
approach fits Mr. Unknown Prospect? That would give you a
big advantage, wouldn’t it?

Let me tell you about Bill who has a clever way of doing
this.

Bill is a friend of mine who regularly makes million-dollar
sales in the technical field. He has a clear vision of his
goals. He knows exactly what he wants and a strategy for
achieving it. Thinking about his goals creates a burning
desire in him to achieve it.

Bill knows exactly how to talk his prospects’ language and
create instant rapport. One of his clever tactics is to
listen to his prospects’ voice mail. Here is how he
explained it to me.

“How do you use your prospects’ voice mail, Bill?”

“I just listen to what my prospects says and how he says
it. For example, suppose my prospects voice mail goes
something like this:

‘Hello, this is Tom Jones. I am sorry I missed your call.
Your call is very important to me. Please leave your name
and address and telephone number. I’ll get back you just as
soon as I can. Have a wonderful day.’

“His voice is warm and soothing. He speaks moderately slow.
When I meet him, I know my own voice should be warm and
soothing and I must speak moderately slow. Also I know this
person needs to be warmed up. It is important to ask him
how he is and how is his family. Then I can get down to
business. I need to explain my proposal fully and provide
plenty of details along with assurances and guarantees.”

“I can see you are familiar with the DISC system of
communication, Bill.”

“That’s right, Stan. I can listen to a prospects voice mail
and even though I never met him or her, I can tell the best
way to approach my prospect. It gives me a big advantage
and makes my work more fun.”

“Can you give more examples of how you use voice mail,
Bill?”

“I’d be glad to, but I got an appointment. We can talk some
more about this the next time we meet.” I know you are busy
and do not have time to read lengthy e-mails, so I keep my
articles short. In my next issue I will tell you more about
using voice mail to make a great first impression and
connecting with anyone with whom you negotiate.

How Much Money Will I earn Through Adsense?
Current info about Adsense is not always the easiest thing
to locate. Fortunately, this report includes the latest
Adsense info available.

If you’re looking at Google’s AdSense program you’re surely
asking yourself how much you could make from such a
program, and you probably think you can’t make as much as
you can from traditional advertising schemes.

Google, of course, keeps a great deal of secrecy regarding
how much AdWords advertisers pay per each click directed to
their site and the same applies for how much AdSense banner
holders make from their websites.

While there’s nothing official, rumors circulate around the
Internet concerning the amount of cash a website can earn
by using AdSense. And many people (illegally) disclose how
much they have been making with AdSense. There are stories
of people raising over one thousand dollars per month using
AdSense.

There are also stories of people exceeding $100,000.00 per
month but it’s a bit hard to believe such stories. The
truth to the matter is that if you have a small website and
you just want it to support itself, and don’t wish to reach
your pocket for its maintenance costs you can probably do
this with AdSense.

AdSense is also very good for people who host a lot of
pages. Even if the said pages don’t generate a lot of
traffic individually, every click counts and you can earn
up with a lot of money by doing this. And that just goes to
prove that sometimes quantity matters nearly as much as
quality.

There’s no telling how much money you’re going to make by
using Google’s AdSense but you can sort of tell for
yourself, before actually starting, by taking a few things
into consideration.

First, is the amount of visits you get every day. While
there’s no way to estimate precisely on this, you can
generally make a safe assumption that if you have a lot of
clicks per day you’ll be making good money.

So far, we’ve uncovered some interesting facts about
Adsense. You may decide that the following information is
even more interesting.

Also, this depends on what exactly your site is about. If
your site is about anything popular (music, sex, whatever)
you’re bound to get a lot of banner clicks. These have a
coefficient associated with them, called the CTR (click
through ratio).

Basically, what it translates to is that if a large
proportion of your site’s visitors click the ads you’ll be
making more money. And the best way to do this is to have
some popular content in your site, ensuring the links
direct users towards popular items as well.

Then of course, there’s the position and number of ads on
your website. While you don’t want to overdo it, having
many links will undoubtedly generate more income for you as
a webmaster. Do not however believe, that if you just add a
lot of ads in an important portion of your site, visitors
could always just skip them (and be assured that many do
just that).

There’s something between an art and a science to
positioning your ads. People generally look in certain
places and never look in others, and knowing this a website
author and/or webmaster can do a great deal of things to
increase his earnings with AdSense.

All in all, the amount of money you make with AdSense
depends on many factors. But if you have a site with
interesting contents and/or many pages, and if you see a
constantly large amount of traffic every day, you can bet
you’ll be making a lot of money with AdSense.

Even if you aren’t in the above categories, AdSense is
still worth using because there’s very little hassle in
setting it up, and many times it can help financially
support the site, whilst being a nice bonus to get through
the post at the end of the month.

So now you know a little bit about Adsense. Even if you
don’t know everything, you’ve done something worthwhile:
you’ve expanded your knowledge.
